We are Harnish Information Technology Group, LLC. Our company is based in St. Petersburg, Florida, USA.

We provide a diverse range of information technology services to clients located all over the United States. As such, many of our past contracts have involved reviewing & enhancing data protections. We’ve advised corporations in the safeguarding of critical business assets but we’ve also assisted senior citizens in achieving personal privacy goals. Since the beginning we’ve had an unwavering stance on the privacy of your information.

Our principles are as follows:

We consider privacy to be a fundamental human right and aggressively oppose infringements on the privacy of others, regardless of the source.
We only collect information when it is absolutely necessary.
We will not share personal information given to us without your permission.
We hate spam and will not send you unsolicited messages.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of software products and web based services that put your privacy at risk. We cannot in good faith recommend any product without first reviewing research, considering privacy implications, performing audits and evaluating product effectiveness. Therefore, we will never recommend products based on sponsorships, partnerships or affiliate marketing.

What personal information we collect and why

We collect personal data such as name, email address, address, phone number, purchase/service information as well as technical information such as IP address, browser user agent, dates/times, pages visited and IP-derived location. We collect this information in order to provide you with service and ensure the integrity and availability of our IT systems.

Technical information collected by us is stored in log files which are periodically deleted. We utilize a third-party web host (A2 hosting) who also performs logging. For information about our host’s policies, please read their privacy policy.

We do not retain any payment information or health information.

Contact forms

Contact forms have been discontinued to reduce dependence on third-party anti-spam & bot detection/mitigation vendors such as Google.

Media

Any photos or videos of client equipment that are uploaded to the Internet are stripped of EXIF data and anonymized. We make a best effort to censor or crop any sensitive information that may be visible. Media is typically collected in order to improve service efficiency and/or verify that work was completed. Media may also be uploaded to showcase work or serve as training material for technicians.

Cookies

You will not encounter any cookies from this domain (harnishgroup.com) unless you attempt to login. Login is only required for contractors/employees.

However, you will encounter Twitter cookies due to embedded Twitter content.

Embedded content from other websites

Twitter is currently embedded in “do not track” mode. See their privacy policy for more information.

Google fonts are also in use. See the Google fonts privacy policy for more information.

These companies may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. Analytics

We do not currently collect analytics or use any tracking tools.

Who we share your data with

We do not share sensitive data we collect with anyone beyond what is required to fulfill service obligations. It should be noted that this often means exchanging data with shipping companies, hardware/software vendors or payment processors.

How long we retain your data

Some data you share with us may be held indefinitely. This will often include contact information and communications. Typically, this information will be stored on an end-to-end encrypted email server or on computing devices with full disk encryption enabled.

For data that was recovered or backed up as part of a service request, we retain your data for a period of 30 days within a secure environment. After that period, data is securely erased. Data of this nature is never shared with anyone without a strong legal reason to do so (e-discovery).

Rights you have over your data

You may request access to, correction of, or erasure of your data under certain circumstances. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, financial, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Your data typically does not leave the United States. Your data may go through our web hosting company and a payment processor such as PayPal or Square Inc.

How we protect your data

We follow best practices and procedures when handling your data. Strong access controls are in place. We use strong passwords and multi-factor authentication where possible. All data stored on our systems or on third party provider’s systems (such as payment processors or our email provider) is encrypted with algorithms that meet or exceed government standards whether the data is in use, at rest or in transit. We make use of full disk encryption, end-to-end encryption and network tunneling via VPN whenever possible. Physical and electronic data is routinely destroyed using government compliant standards.

What data breach procedures we have in place

We make use of automated internal reporting mechanisms that log and alert us when suspicious behavior is detected. We also perform periodic manual audits of internal systems to look for evidence of compromise.

What third parties we receive data from

We receive personal information including name, physical address, phone number and email address from lead generating platforms such as Thumbtack, HomeAdvisor and Amazon. We use this information to compete for bids/requests and provide services to clients.
